"Look Cool, Stay Cool"

 Hey everyone! Long time no blog right? Shelby and I (this is Mandi) have been super busy with school, eating cookies and just about everything else. But, we are back to the blogging world and we come with our desperate desire for the warm weather to come and stay here in good ole'  Stockton. So we decided to show you all a couple outfits that we are super excited to wear this summer! 
Well here I am, in one of my favorite dresses! My big sissy got it for me for Christmas from Urban Outfitters so you know its totally cool! I know its super simple with not much going on, but thats what summer is all about! Simplicity, relaxing, and staying COOL (temperature wise) And I'm wearing these gold earrings which I love just to yano, make it a little flashy! Oh and P.S my dress has pockets! :)
Here I am again, in a MAXI DRESS! I have always thought that only people like my dear friend Shelby who were blessed with legs as long as my entire body could pull off these dressed but I was wrong! This dress is new from Target for only 10 dollars, I am really looking forward to wearing it ASAP.


For starters, anything I wear is almost certainly from CROSSROADS. Hence, these awesome shorts! They are semi-high waisted and not too short, which is the perfect pair of shorts to me! Needless to say, I am very excited about them! haha. And this shirt is a Mandi-hand-me down that is pretty floral and great for Spring time.
Again, Crossroads is to thank for this dress. I stumbled upon it in the winter time, but it was cheap and cute so I got it and now have had to wait for the darn warm weather to come!! These shoes are my favorite sandals I'd say. I like them because they are very unique looking and none of my other sandals have laces!

Don't think about planning, but plan about thinking.

Lately, with everything that has been going on in my life, college plans to say the least of it, I have been thinking about this verse a lot: “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” Proverbs 19:21. It just reminds me that I can plan all I want, or at least try to, but that it is ultimately in my best interest to have faith that God will work out His plans for my life in His way and timing. This is definitely something that is hard for me to do, because I am a big PLANNER, but I’m learning with time and watching God’s plans go on in my life, whether they coincide with my own or not, that His always make more sense in the end!
“Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things” Philippians 4:8-9. I think this verse is pretty self-explanatory. I started to really think about this verse a while ago, and my life has changed a lot since then. So I suppose that would deduce to the fact that this verse changed my way of life significantly. When I try to live by this verse, I find that generally I feel less scared, anxious, and unsettled because I try to avoid watching or listening to things that are not “pure” or “admirable” because then I won’t think about them! I don't think a lot of people realize how much negative, hurtful things go into our minds through the media presented to us. This verse taught me that, and that it is possible to simply avoid these things, even in a world that is full of impure influences. Avoiding these thoughts ultimately makes my thoughts more pleasant, and I thank God for this advice!

Oooooh Baby let my People go!



"But Moses pleaded with the Lord 'Oh Lord, I am not very good with words.  I never have been, and I am not now, even though you have spoken to me.  I get tongue tied and my words get tangled.' I don't really feel like much is needed to be said about these verses, there is not much I can say.  Moses was called to do one of the hardest things ever, to go and demand freedom for his people from the Pharaoh.  The fact that Moses had was a stutterer who had trouble with words shows that just because you are not necessarily good at something does not mean you cannot be called to do something great. Because, all of our judgements are based on human knowledge and experience and what we think is up to standard, but if you think about it, what is that really?
What possible meaning could my opinions hold compared to the creator of everything?
Not much.  
Lesson Learned: Don't mess with God, and his wonderful plans.

"How can I control my life when I can't control my hair?"


One of the many differences that Shelby and I have is our hair.  Shelby, for instance, has long, flowy, natural blonde hair.  While I, on the other hand, have short dyed brown hair that has been just about every color and style known to man.  I am a creature addicted to change, which causes me to partake in permanent and drastic changes to my look such as dying and cutting.  Shelby, on the other hand is more careful about the risks she takes with her hair, and instead takes a walk on the wild side by the way she chooses to style her hair.  She has gotten pretty good at twisting and pinning up her hair in a very pleasing and cute way.  And although I am (and always will be) a fan of her hair being all the way down, her braids and messy buns have started to grow on me! Take a look for yourself.... 



Don't worry boys, we're not going to do all our posts on girly, hair, fashion stuff like this all the time. But if you do happen to be reading this, it could maybe inspire you to appreciate when girls do unique stuff to their hair. (Just a tip!) haha. But anyway, both of these hairstyles are really simple to do. For the bun on the left, I just put the bottom half of my hair in a pony tail and started wrapping and braiding hair around it, and it took about 5 minutes! As for the fish tail braid, you can google that, it's honestly easier than a french braid. I have a lot of fun trying new ideas with my hair so I encourage all you non-hair dyers/cutters/feather-ers to do the same!

As i stated earlier I really enjoy, and am in constant need of change.  My hair has been a pixie cut, an A-line bob and just about everything else.  I have been a platinum blonde, dark brown, copper and purple.  But since, I am trying, for the first time in a MILLION years to grow my hair out, cutting is not an option.  I have found a new way to change my look through nifty little accessories called feather extentions.  Feather extensions are dyed feathers that you clamp into your hair right near your roots.  They last about a month and can be washed, curled, and blow dryed.  They are super fun and you can get them in all kinds of colors.  I chose to get them in more natural colors so that they blend into my hair.
Oh and P.S Steven Tyler and Ke$ha have them! (Don't let that disuade you from getting them)

"Compared to friendship, Gold is DIRT"


Mandi here, Shelby and I have a very interesting friendship because we are two very different people.  I am a short, uncoordinated, and a very loud, in your face little person, while Shelby on the other hand is tall, athletic and speaks so softly I sometimes have a very hard time hearing her.  But we have found it easy to see through all of our differences and focus on our similarities such as our love for chocolate chip cookies, art and most importantly Jesus Christ.  Shelby is ma best fran; she has been with me through all my different hairstyles, my struggles, and my joys. Weird how people can be so different, yet so alike at the same time huh? 

Fasionista?

So recently Mandi has been obsessed with becoming a "fashionista". Hourly, I hear her comment that she has no style and needs a new wardrobe.
Latest comment as of 3.5 seconds ago: "Good thing I have no freakin' clothes!"
 I attempt to assure her that she is blessed with very nice clothes and a great sense of style, but no luck yet. Her pursuit to fashionista status shall continue and I will accompany her because fashion is kinda fun to follow. So here are some of what we, the official fashionistas of The Wholesome Chronicles, think is hip, modest, and cute!

 This is Mandi, Polka Dots are really rad, In moderation of course.  The size of the Polka Dots on this shirt is the perfect balance between huge and obnoxious, and subtle.  Paired with bright orange scarf, and some 7 year old chuck Taylors!
 Lately, I seem to think that plaid is neutral, even though it's not, but I like to wear a plaid shirt over another printed shirt sometimes. And I have been inspired by Mandi to wear skinny jeans more often, and I like these ones because I don't usually wear red pants! Love, Shelby.
 Whoever said that leggings aren't pants are wrong. and they are not my friend.  LEGGINGS ARE TOTALLY PANTS and i will shout that till the day i die.  I really love wearing leggings, because I love tight pants.  I'm not emo, nor am I a hooch, but tight pants make me feel fashionable, therefore leggings are my best friend.
I wear these boots way too much, nearly every day. When I bought them, I thought it was risky and that I wouldn't wear them often because I didn't know what to wear them with. But I have found that they match just about everything I have, and they make me feel hard core and I'm not. :)
